What do you do with a bag of vintage macrame linens that nobody uses anymore? So beautiful with intricate detail made out of cotton. Throwing away was not an option as here at Annie’s Attic old precious materials do not go to the landfill they get repurposed!
After contemplating, googling and Pinterest I decided on a sailboat sail for the macrame linen with live edge wood for boat and a branch for the mast. I learned a lot from the first prototype which barely looked like a sailboat and had flimsy sails. I also added some bling for pizazz but you could only see from one side.
I was getting closer. I stiffened the sail with modge podge and made 2 sails. But what to do about the bling? To solve the problem of viewing from each side I cut holes in the sail and after trying different bling materials I settled on glass beads and stained glass chips.
Success. I know have the process and design steps and looking forward to creating lots of variations. Check back in the store often.
